January 31:
Joys of Freelancing

TODAY marks my first year of self-employment and I can truly say that I'm totally happy with this working scenario. Thanks goes to Arnold and my family for bearing with my initial mood swings and recurring indecisiveness ("But they're offering me xxxxxx a month! Should I go back to corporate life?"), and all you dear online friends who take time to leave encouraging notes and comments on this blog.

Now, the one great advantage of being a freelance writer -- aside from the luxury of being able to watch cartoons in the middle of the day, just like those glorious afternoons when I was home sick from grade school -- becomes apparent only in malls. When I am besieged by one of those half-rabid salespeople constantly trying to get you to sign up for a credit card, all I have to do is mouth the magic words, "I'm a freelancer," and they back away faster than if I had said, "There's a bomb under my shirt."

Congrats! That's so awesome to be self-employed.

I know one day that I want to work for myself - but unlike you, I am clueless about what it is I want to do.

I hope one day I will know.

But for you: the sky's the limit! : )

Cyn, Happy Freelancing Anniversary!!! :) I'm laso aspiring to the same thing, but have yet to build my name as a writer and maybe PR person, as well. But all my best wishes go out to you and Arnold in everything you do!

Freelancing is definitely the best option if you want flexibility and like to plan your own life. Being your own boss is always preferable to being some one else's employee. And if there are enough options, then why not? I am all for it, and am hoping to get on the same boat myself in the near future :)
