March 14: The price of technology
Infopage suddenly decided to bill me (P 2T++) after three years of inactivity. Why only now? Good grief, I've forgotten that I ever had a pager.
R.I.P. IP93060 has since been demoted to paperweight status.
Arnold suspects that pager companies have gone bankrupt since the cell phone boom and that the delayed billing is a last ditch effort to regain some dignity. Sigh, at my expense.
*** Speaking of bankruptcy, my friend Joan L has it that TGIFridays in El Pueblo closed down because they lost their crowd to Eastwood. Tequila Joe's is rumored to go next. How truly sad...

Just wondering..what pager companies are still afloat nowadays?

a similar scenario happened to me a few years back. easycall slapped me with a nearly P1K bill long after i had formally asked for a disconnection. their underhanded tactics of waiting for your charges to pile up before you get informed is just too sickening a practice.

I'm sorry Cynthia, I promise, no more gloating about all the new hardware and stuff... but have you seen the 22" Cinema Display? Dual page layouts on the same screen is unbelievable ;-)
BTW, I was in a similar situation a year ago with PAGENET (cursed company run by hooligans), they stuck me with a $75 bill for something that has been inactive for 3 years! See, all is not about gloating ;-P

The pager company used to send me billings even after I told them I had notified them I've decided not to avail of their service. Now I don't get any. Hm, does this mean it finally sank in their bloody minds, or will I get a bloody legal notice sometime in the near future as well? I hope not.

Indi: Yeah, I know. I have exactly five days til they resort to 'legal measures', darn it.
Luis: fine, gloat all you want (iPod... TiBook... someday)

i had to pay them too, late last year, for about the same amount of (forgotten) charges. so i forked over the cash just so they wouldn't sue me because they kept mentioning their legal department.
