May 04: "Where are you coming from, Spiderman? Nobody knows who you are."
Amazing! Sounds cheesy but that's a word that can aptly describe the combined action stunts/cgi special effects in one of our most-awaited movies of the year. Arn and I watched the first screening yesterday, liked it, and looped it for a second round. No links to reviews here, folks (of course it's not without flaw) -- I urge you to just run to the theatres and have fun.
On the left is a scene from the 1970s Amazing Spiderman. Compare it to today's version of the wall-crawling hero.
*** For the Of Sentimental Value files : true-blue Sound of Music fans know that Nicholas Hammond of "Friedrich" fame played Spiderman in the late 70's TV movies.
| Check out the costume. |
And who can forget the lovable non-speaking Spidey in CTW's The Electric Company in the mid-70's? That, by the way, was my very first exposure to the superhero world. (Ack, my age is showing.)
*** More on comic book superhero series-turned-movies: Brendan Fraser tipped as new Superman.

Sharon : Yeah, Arn and I are waiting for at least the VCD to be out too. (: Check out my new entry, by the way!

Not wanting to join the stampede, my hubby and I decided to watch the 1 a.m. show (thinking by then, we'd have the movie house to ourselves) ~ but suprisingly, the house was full and still had to wait in line. The movie was worth every penny...I might have passed opportunities to see other great movies at the big screen (DVD na lang) but this was def. one movie na pang sine!~ Couldn't wait for it to be out on DVD...collector's item. Luv the costume pa rin talaga!

I want to see the special effects of spiderman too - even if bf doesn't care for it as much! I grew up watching the Spiderman cartoons on Saturday morning - and I loved it!

Just got back from watching Spidey... good lord the lines was long! The movie was great, some of the digital seams showed, although it didn't take away from the story and eye candy. Toby and Kirsten did an admirable job of bringing the characters (Peter and MJ) alive.
My fave line by Peter, "go web, um, shazam!" ;-)
Next week, Star Wars and Sum of All Fears, isn't summer movies great?
