March 11: A hunka chunka burning update
The Elvis: A grilled peanut butter sandwich, stuffed with bananas and honey. Try it with bacon for that extra indulgence.
Description c/o Peanut Butter & Co.
Did you know that Mr. Presley used to eat 12-15 of these sandwiches in one sitting? Gasp.
Since I'm in charge of monitoring junk food consumption in our household, my dear hubby asked me oh-so-sweetly one morning if I would please allow him to eat an Elvis just that once and never again -- for this month, at least. Now how can I say no?
For those of you willing to up your triglyceride levels, I found you the recipe*. Enjoy.
*Remember to do it the Elvis way, fry 'em using bacon fat.
*** The ad industry sneakily lured us back into its claws as we've recently been working on a surprisingly good deal of projects with the agency that reaches for the stars. The good news is that we get to flex our braincells under pressure again and, as a bonus, see close friends like Shei* and Joany more often. Also, even if we sometimes have to work in their office, going home after lunch (if there's time to have lunch at all) is an option, hehe. The catch of course, is having to drive through hellish Makati traffic and then paying at least P100 a day for gas and parking...*
*If you go to LB's lobby, you'll see her name all over all the trophies on display. Woohoo that's mah friend! (:
*Though that never stops us from having a cone of Pazzo Gelato, diba Nev?
*** Before you waste hard-earned moolah on Starbucks coffee again, I suggest you read this.
*** And it's tax season once again folks, *groan*. The catch in being a freelancer is that you not only have to go to BIR once a month to pay your dues*, you also have to compute and settle your annual return on your own (that is, if, like me, you can't afford to pay an accountant). Wish me luck, please.
*Or if you have no income to declare, you still have to go to say that you have nothing to declare.
***
"OK, so I'm not famous for the right reasons." - William "She Bangs" Hung
So what though, right? William's full-length record, tentatively titled "The True Idol," is coming out on April 6th*.
*Namaaan, kung si Willie Revillame nga may album, eh.

cripes! tax season, argh! i also have that same dilemma of going to the BIR every month to file for taxes, and even when I didn't have income anymore I had to go and file. Then now since I'm mainly working for the government, I don't know how to deal with having mixed income sources, at least for last year. Mahal na pala ng accountant ngayon. Buti puwede pala self-computation? Sabi ng BIR sa akin I need to have an accountant esp if you're doing the VAT thing. Oh well.

Hi guys, thanks for dropping by!
Monra, yeah nga we SHOULD meet up! Btw, I can't believe that all that money I used to spend at Starbucks is just making the rich guys richer? Is there an option for Fair Trade coffee here?
Heids, yeah I do hope that more people should know about it. Sadly it's so popular here. Those poor farmers...
Hi Melai! Long time no... um, see? Kumusta ka na? (:
Nevs! Hey that sounds cool. Actually I just finished computing both Arn's and my returns. Spent 5 hours writing and re-writing all those numbers, arrggh.
Junnie, hello! Hung's hilarious, huh? Better catch his performance on AI3 tomorrow night, 8pm HK time, Star World. By the way, where in the world are you now?

uy, salamat sa fair trade link. i blogged about it a few weeks ago also: http://www.heidiologies.com/photoblog/030204.html i hope more people learn about this. i mean, i always ask for a 'VENTI FRENCH-PRESSED FAIR TRADE COFEE' when i go to starbutts these days. it's good to support fair trade, the confused look on the barista's faces is just a bonus. hehe. usually i have to talk to another barista or a mgr to clarify my order, and then they happily make my coffee. =)

hi cyn! if you find you've had enough of doing your own taxes, I have a great accountant! And she only charges a retainer fee of P2,000 a month. or if you need her only once a year, you can also ask her how much that would be. :) It really saves me so much stress and grief to have her do it for me. :)

Cynthia! Yehey, update! haha, I also can't afford my own accountant, so I did my own return. I always feel like I deserve a reward after I do my taxes.
I've always thought Starbucks offers Fair Trade just that I keep forgetting to ask for it. Now I'll remember to demand.
