Arn and I had a meeting with a cake supplier the other day and I made the mistake of splashing on cake batter cologne on my wrists and guzzling down a can of Vanilla Coke before the meeting. I felt so dizzy that I couldn't taste a thing, too bad for me*. Now I want a slice, hmm.

*He said it was "faaantastic!" and finished my share. (Don't worry, he's lost 10lbs since December.)

Will vandas look great surrounded by pink cymbidiums and purple lisianthus in a nosegay?

Can a 3-tier cake hold well outdoors if it's iced with swiss meringue or maybe marzipan instead of fondant?

Did you know that planning a wedding can expand one's vocabulary? I've never even heard of some of those words before in my life, much less use them in a sentence.

If you're a future bride or groom-to-be, I strongly recommend that you join the Weddings at Work egroup that Dean recommended early this year. It's strictly moderated so that no one from the wedding industry are able to spy, meaning everyone gets to vent and warn others about their own wedding day mishaps with certain suppliers. Of course it also works the other way around -- we get to know about suppliers who deliver well. I've been a lister for about a month now and I could say I'm a lot more informed.

I am now officially 364 days away from turning 32.

*Thank you, dear friends who sent SMS. The greetings certainly made me smile! (can I just share Quark's: "Ate twin, you'll always look 21 with Arnold's love.")

My dream is to age as gracefully as fair lady Julie Andrews. Did you see her at the Awards? To think Arn and I were just watching Sound of Music on E! the other night.

We also had a blast seeing West Side Story's Rita "Heeey yoouuuu guuuuys!!!" Moreno and George Chakiris in that Oscar winners tribute.

***
Speaking of which, the Oscars is the only opportunity where I get to watch local TV commercials one after the other and I must say that the pantiliner ad showing Pops Fernandez on a bucking bronco is tasteless, just tasteless. The fact that it's very poorly done does not help at all. (Alright, sinong su-mideline nun?) I remember working on some Pepsi and Kotex ads that featured her long ago, back in her and Martin's heyday. Can't believe this is where she'd be years (and a divorce) later, poor girl.

Hey kids, our good friend Robert Magnuson has a Quack Fest going on here. The page still needs a bit of spiffying up (my fault, actually) but things should be in order soon.

Learned from Dean that their Levi's-sponsored comic Ab Ovo's 2nd issue is out. Coolness! More details here.

We also found out from Gerry that the new Graphic Classics book featuring Jack London is out as well. (By the way, my Arn did that fine-lookin' cover.)

Random finds:

ï I Own These, helps you keep track of what you own. (Handy for letting gift-givers know what you already have, too.)

ï Orange: A Love Story by Joseph Silayan, one of Arnold's egroups listers.

Good golly, didn't this George listen to the other George growing up?

There was a press release about it in the papers today so I thought I'd give you a peek of what Arn and I have been working on these past few months.

Before clicking on the link (and questioning our artistic integrity) though, keep these two words in mind: cash and cow.

I'm quite sure you're not the market for it, but we don't want you thinking that we're only busy with wedding preps now.

To those of you planning to go the self-employed route, here are tips on how to freelance with finesse.

*Much as Arn and I love being freelancers, the ickiest thing about it is the paperwork during tax season. Arrrgggh!

Ooh, a blogmeet. (: Ellen invited me last Wednesday but I had to decline because Arn and I had a meeting with our coordinator.

[insert gasp here]

Uh-huh, we caved and got a wedding planner (think J. Lo -- or Franck Eggelhoffer, if you're from my generation), but just for the day itself*. After three months of running around asking all my friends for quality suppliers who are, take note, not necessarily from the wedding industry (as these people who are not necessarily quality providers usually charge higher), we had our fill and decided to hire the services of an expert. After all, we can't afford to look harrassed on our special day.

*There is such a thing as "Day Coordination" where the planner will take over only around 2-3 months before the wedding day.

This announcement is a bit late but please welcome J Sushi back online!
